Sr. Storage Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities :

Establish processes and policies, and perform tasks needed to maintain the overall integrity and reliability of storage and backup infrastructure systems.
Providing timely resolution to problems or escalate to the appropriate technical leads
Responsible in advising and assisting users in solving problems in storage and backup domain.
Work with architects, senior engineers and other team members.

Requirements :

• 5-7 years of storage and backup administration experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills (system, network, and application). Able to break down problems until root cause is understood.
• A solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts (NFS, CIFS, automounter, inodes, file handles).
• Troubleshoot hardware and operating system level problems and suggest possible performance tuning and monitoring utilities.
• Install, configure and maintain NAS storage hardware (NetApp, EMC Isilon, Oracle ZFS appliance) includes controllers, disk shelves, nodes, etc.
• Maintain SAN storage hardware (NetApp 7 Mode, C mode, VNX, VMAX, Replication point, Brocade switches, AppSync, SRM Storage Replication Manager).
  Installation, configuration, firmware updates, hardware upgrades, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting of SAN fabrics
  Must have extensive knowledge and experience on NetApp storage technologies like snapshot, snapmirror, snapvault, flexcache, etc. along with EMC Isilon technologies includes smartpool, Sync IQ, etc.
  Believe in and demonstrate ability to automate processes and write scripts in some administrative language (Perl, shell, python).
  Gather, and leverage metrics to prevent and uncover problems in the storage infrastructure before they emerge.
  Configuration and management of storage data replication for high availability
  Seek out and implement new technologies to continually simplify the environment while improving security and performance.
  Provide 2nd level support for storage includes backup administration, manage backup related storage devices (Data Domain), troubleshooting backup issues.
